DOC THOM AYRSHIRE ORDER OF MERIT - Gavin Chesney leads title chase after third major success of the season at Largs

Gavin Chesney (Kilbirnie Place) leads the chase for the Doc Thom Salver and Ayrshire Men's Order of Merit title following victory in the recent Viking Krus 36 hole competition, his third major success over the course at Largs GC this season.

Having previously won the Ayrhsire Men's Strokeplay Championship for the first time at Largs in April, Gaving followed that success by winning the Largs Club Championship, and made it a hat trick of successes with a two shot win in the Viking Krus on Sunday the 4th of August with a two round total of 144.

Harvey Broadfoot (Troon Welbeck) moved up to fourth place in the table with his second place finish at the Viking Krus and Harvey McDonald (Turnberry) moved up to fifth following his third place at Largs.

Graeme Gimson (Prestwick St Cuthbert) lies in third spot, just five points behind Craig Hamilton (Ballochmyle), after picking up points at the Viking Krus from his fifth place finish.

In the other Doc Thom counting event held recently, the Stevenson Trophy at Girvan, Elliot masterson (Ayr Belleisle) was first with a scratch score of 62, a single shot ahead of Scott brown (Prestwick Srt Cuthbert) and Alan Mclean (Largs)

The next counting events are The Troon St Meddans Open on the 17th of August and the mainholm Cup at Ayr Dalmilling on the 18th of August.
