WEST OF SCOTLAND INTER COUNTY LEAGUES - Lanarkshire secure first A league title since 2000

Lanarkshire are the 2023 West of Scotland Inter County A League winners for the first time since 2000, beating Ayrshire on tie difference over the series of five matches, after both teams won four of their five fixtures. 

Lanarkshire beat Dumbartonshire 7.5-0.5 at Kirkhill on Sunday the 22nd of October to win the West of Scotland Inter County A league, by tie difference, from Ayrshire, who finished their campaign with a 6-2 away win over Glasgow at Glasgow Gailes. In the other outstanding fixture, Renfrewshire beat Stirlingshire 4.5-3.5 at Stirling.

Lanarkshire’s win is their first in the A League since their successes in 1999 and 2000.

SCOTTISH SENIOR MEN'S AREA TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP - Paul Moultrie best individual as Ayrshire finish in fifth place

Ayrshire finished in fifth place in the 2023 Scottish Senior Men's Area Team Championships, which was held at Monifieth GC on Thursday the 12th of October.

In dry but windy conditions, the Ayrshire side returned a team score of 385, from the five counting scores from six, to finish eight sots adrift from the winners from The Lothians.

Paul Moultrie (Royal Troon) led the line for Ayrshire with with a 4 under par score of 67 which was the best individual return of the day by a clear four shots.

WEST OF SCOTLAND INTER COUNTY LEAGUES - Ayrshire secure youths title win in week 5

 Ayrshire have been confirmed as West of Scotland Inter County Youth league champions for 2023 following the completion of the week 5 fixtures on Sunday 15th October.


Ayrshire had a 5.5 – 2.5 away win against Stirlingshire in their final fixture of the series at Stirling GC which, combined with Lanarkshire’s defeat by Renfrewshire, confirmed Ayrshire’s first title win since 2013.
