AYRSHIRE SENIOR MEN'S MATCHPLAY CHAMPIONSHIP - Brian Fisher is top seed while defending champion Alistair Belford returns to defend the title.

 The players who returned the eight best scratch scores in the 2023 Ayrshire Senior men's Strokeplay Championship at Ayr Seafield golf course this week, will now go forward to contest the Ayrshire Senior Men's Matchplay Championship title over the next few weeks, culminating in the final at Royal Troon on Friday the 11th of August.

The cut off for the matchplay fell at two over par 70, with Brian Fisher (Largs) leading the way as first seed, with a best of the day, three under par, 65. In the first round of the matchplay, Fisher will play Irvine's George Robertson.

The second tie will be an all Kilmarnock Barassie affair, with Iain MacFarlane facing Stuart Miller, whilst the strokeplay trophy winner James McIntyre (Redburn) will play Andy Marshall (Prestwick St Nicholas) in the third of the four first round ties.

The final tie features the defending champion, Alistair Belford (Prestwick St Nicholas) who begins his bid to defend the trophy against Steven Capstick (Ballochmyle)
