SCOTTISH SENIOR MEN'S OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP - Third successive runners up spot for Paul Moultrie

Paul Moultrie (Royal Troon) was runner up in the Scottish Senior men's Open Championship for the third successive year, when the 2023 event took place at Stirling Golf Club from the 21st to the 23rd of June.

Despite two birdies in the last three holes, the Scottish Senior men's internationalist fell just one short of the winning score of 213, 3 under par, posted by the 2023 winner Derek Paton (Dunnikier Park)

Moultrie's 2 under par total of 214, following rounds of 72, 72, and 70, saw him share second place with England's Richard Jones and Alan Hogg (St Andrews).

Three other Ayrshire players made the 36 hole cut and completed the final round in the 54 hole championship.

Robert Jenkins (Royal Troon) finished 10th equal on 217, 1 over par, with rounds of 75, 75, and 71, whilst Henry Thomson (Irvine) was joint 60th on 230, 14 over par, with rounds of 76, 76, and 78.

Alistair Belford (Prestwick St Nicholas) was a couple of shots further back on 232, 16 over par, finishing in 63rd place with rounds of 74, 78, and 80.

The 36 hole cut fell at 152, 8 over par.

The other three Ayrshire players in the field, all from Royal Troon, missed the 36 hole cut. Gary Jones had rounds of 75 and 79 for a 10 over par total of 154 which was matched by B.J.G. Bingham with rounds of 73 and 81, whilst John Rushbury was three shots further away from the cut on 157, 13 over par, after rounds of 77 and 80
