AYRSHIRE ORDER OF MERIT - Hillhouse Cup win moved Stewart Russell up to sixth place

Victory in the recent Hillhouse Cup competition over his home course has moved Stewart Russell (Royal Troon) up to sixth place in the early standings in the 2022 Ayrshire Order of Merit, for the Doc Thom Salver.

A scratch score of 72 secured Russell the prestigious Hillhouse Cup on Sunday the 15th of May by a single shot from clubmate Paul McKellar (Royal Troon) and Sandy Walker (Kilmarnock Barassie) with the trio of Ben Gibson (Kilmarnock Barassie), David Currie (Royal Troon) and John Haggarty (Loudoun) a shot further back on 74.

With three of the 20 counting events now completed, Ayrshire Strokeplay Champion Scott brown (Turnberry) still leads the way in the Order of Merit, ahead of matchplay Championship winner Shaun Hedger (West Kilbride)
