RECORD FOR SHANKS AT THE DOUBLE - Second course record of the year over his home course for Ayrshire golfer

John Shanks (Irvine)
has had an outstanding run of form in recent weeks which has produced two course records for him over his home course in just a few weeks.

On the 24th of July, an inward half of 30, which included an eagle three at the twelfth hole, contributed to a scratch score of 64, seven under par, and a new course record at the Bogside links for John.

His form continued when he won the 36 Viking Krus competition at Largs on the eighth of August, an opening round of 71 being followed by a stunning 64 in the second round to give him an eight stroke winning margin.

John then crowned his superb run of scoring on the fifteenth of August over his home course when he beat his own course record, set just 22 days earlier, by two shots, taking the course record down to 62, nine under par.

In an astounding outward half of just 29 shots, John started with birdies at the opening three holes and added further birdies at the fifth, sixth, eighth and ninth, interspersed with his only two pars in the front nine.
His inward half of 33 shots included birdies at the tenth, fourteenth and eighteenth, and even with a single bogey five at the thirteenth, he ensured that the course record was lowered for the second time on just three weeks.

For the record, John's scoring in his current course record, against the par of the course was :-
