WEST OF SCOTLAND INTER COUNTY UNDER 18 LEAGUE - Ayrshire keep title hopes on track with away win over Stirlingshire

The Ayrshire Under 18 team kept their hopes of retaining the Wishart Trophy, and West of Scotland inter county under 18 league title, for a third successive year, with a win on the road against Strilingshire at Grangemouth on Sunday the 25th of July.


The Ayrshire cause was helped by the non appearance of two of the Stirlingshire team, which gave Oliver Long and John McCracken walkovers in their respective ties.

In the three remaining under 16 ties, Ayrshire swept the boards, wins by Rory Inglis, Ryan Kennedy and Jack Broadfoot, giving Ayrshire the required points for a win overall.

In the remaining Under 18 ties, the Ayrshire players, Ryan Stribling, Jack Allan and Harvey Broadfoot, all lost their ties but Ayrshire still came away with victory in the match.

Ayrshire still have a postponed home fixture with Glasgow to arrange, whilst Ayrshire's other two matches to be played in this seasons competition are a home match against Lanarkshire at caprington on the 22nd of August and an away fixture with Dumbartonshire at Clydebank & District on the 19th of September.

Dumbartonshire had a 4.5 - 3.5 win over Glasgow at Clober on Sunday the 25th of July to maintain their 100% record in the competition to date, and lead the current standings, which are:-
