WOMAN'S AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP - Louise Duncan carries Ayrshire hopes into the quarter finals

Louise Duncan (West Kilbride) carries Ayrshire’s hopes into Friday’s quarter finals of the 2021 Woman’s Amateur Championship, being held this week at Kilmarnock Barassie Golf Club.

In Thursday morning’s second round of matchplay, Duncan beat Lottie Woad from England, winning the tenth hole with a par before taking successive holes at the 15th and 16th for a 3 & 2 win.

The third round match on Thursday afternoon paired Duncan with Ireland’s Sara Byrne and after opening with a birdie and recording four birdies in total and just one bogey in her round, she cruised into the last eight with a 6 & 4 victory.

In Friday morning’s quarter finals Louise Duncan plays England’s Jessica baker for a place in Friday afternoon’s semi finals.

Hazel Macgarvie (Royal Troon) lost out by 2 & 1 to Iceland’s Jóhanna Lea Lúðvíksdóttir in Thursday morning’s second round, whilst Rachel Foster (Prestwick St Nicholas) lost out at the same stage to fellow Scot Hannah Darling (Broomieknowe), on the final green by a single hole.
