SCOTTISH WOMAN'S CHAMPIONSHIP - Ayrshire challenge ends in quarter finals at Gullane

There will be no Ayrshire winner of the Scottish Woman's Championship this year after the last local players exited in the quarter finals at Gullane on the afternoon of Saturday the 5th of June.

Rachel Foster (Prestwick St Nicholas) won the all Ayrshire tie in the first round of the matchplay on Saturday morning, beating Hazel McGarvie (Royal Troon) by 4 & 3 but against Chloe Goadby (St Regulus) in the quarter finals she was edged out by a single hole.

Top Qualifier Louise Duncan (West Kilbride) lost at the first extra hole to Clara Young (North Berwick) in the first round of the matchplay whilst Luisa Gibson (Irvine) beat Katie Wright (Stranraer) by 3 & 2 in the morning, but lost out in the quarter finals by 4 & 3 to Tara McTaggart (Minto) in the afternoon.

The championship concludes on Sunday with the semi finals and final.
