WEST OF SCOTLAND BOYS CHAMPIONSHIP - Cameron Johnstone best from Ayrshire at Williamwood

Cameron Johnstone (Kilmarnock Barassie) was the best Ayrshire finisher in the West of Scotland Boys' Strokeplay Championship, played at Williamwood on Monday 22nd July.

Johnston carded rounds of 80 and 72 for a total of 152 to finish in sixth place, five shots behind the winning total of 147 posted by Christopher McMillan (Bishopbriggs) and George Cannon (Glenbervie).

Along with Ryan Kennedy (Loudoun) , Cameron Johnstone qualified for the West of Scotland Boys' Matchplay Championship which followed on from the strokeplay event on Tuesday and Wednesday.

In the first round of the matchplay event, played on Tuesday 23rd July, Kennedy lost out by 5&3 to George Cannon (Glenbervie), whilst Cameron Johnstone edged through his first round match against Blaine Mcfadzean (Bearsden) at the 21st hole before dispatching Rhys McIlroy (Elderslie) by 6&5 in the quarter finals.

In the semi finals on Thursday morning, 25th July, Johnstone faces Ryan Kennedy's conqueror, George Cannon, whilst the other semi final features Josh White (Bishopbriggs) and Logan Glately (Sandyhills)
