AYRSHIRE HANDICAP LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP - latest results make quarter final line up clearer

The latest round of results posted in the four qualifying sections of the Ayrshire Handicap League Championship have made the potential quarter final line up clearer, as the knockout stages of this years competition draws closer.

In SECTION A, Auchenharvie 88 finished their campaign with a 5 – 1 home win over Ayr Belleisle, but came up just short in their bid for one of the two qualifying spots.

With Rowallan Castle now assured of qualification the second qualifying spot will be decided on the result of Ayr Dalmilling’s final match at home to Prestwick St Cuthbert, where a win by Ayr Dalmilling would see them overtake Ballochmyle who presently lie in second place.

In SECTION B, Royal Troon maintained their qualification hopes with a 5.5-0.5 home win over Prestwick St Nicholas in their latest fixture whilst Largs Routenburn shared the spoils with their visitors from Ayr Seafield in a 3-3 draw in the other fixture played recently.

A win by Tam O Shanter in their final fixture away to league leaders Kilbirnie Place  would see both of those teams qualify for the knockout stages, but if Tam O Shanter fail to win then Royal Troon will have the chance of overtaking them for the second play off spot if they win their final fixture at home to Largs Routenburn.

In SECTION C, a defeat for Troon Welbeck by 4-2 at home to near neighbours Troon St Meddans in their final fixture and a 4-2 home win by Annanhill over Troon Merchants  ensured that, with one fixture still to complete away to Troon Merchants, Annanhill will join Kilmarnock Barassie in going forward to the knockout stages of the competition.
