AYRSHIRE HANDICAP LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP - Push for qualification places hots up in the four qualifying groups

The push for one of the eight qualifying places across the four qualifying sections in the 2019 Ayrshire Handicap League Championship is hotting up, with a number of crucial matches being completed in the last week.


In SECTION A, Auchenharvie 88 move clear in second place with a 3 – 3 draw at home to Alton, whose own qualifying holes were dashed following a 4 – 2 defeat at home to Rowallan Castle and a narrow 3.5 – 2.5 loss away to Ayr Dalmilling.

In SECTION B, a 5 – 1 home win over Prestwick St Nicholas moved Kilbirnie Place further clear at the top of the table Whilst Stewarton and Royal Troon shared the spoils in their two fixtures recently, Stewarton winning 4 – 2 at home but losing 5 – 1 in the return match at Royal Troon.

In SECTION C, Annanhill and Kilmarnock Barassie still share top spotafter the two recent fixtures which saw Annanhill winning by 4 – 2 at Troon St Meddans and Kilmarnock Barassie recording a win by the same score at home to Troon Welbeck.

In SECTION D, Redburn kept up the momentum at the top of the table with a 4.5 – 1.5 home win over Troon Portland and a 3 – 3 draw away from home against Braehead.

The chase for the second qualifying spot remains very close after Loudoun beat their visitors from Troon Portland by 3.5 – 2.5, Moorpark had a 4.5 – 1.5 win away to braehead and West Kilbride won 5 – 1 at home to beith.
