A number of first and second round ties in the 2019 Ayrshire Champion of Champions Trophy competition were completed this week, with the holder of the title, Paul Denim (Loudoun), losing in his bid for a second successive championship with a defeat in his first round tie.Denim traveled to play Gordon Munro (Caprington) in the opening round and lost out on the final green by a single hole.
Munro will now be at home to George Paton (Troon Merchants) in round two, after Paton beat his visitor Grant Mackintosh (Ardeer) by a single hole in their first round tie.
Craig Hamilton (Ballochmyle) edged through at home at the first extra hole against the 2016 title winner John Sloan (Doon Valley) and will now travel to play Greg Nichol (Troon St Meddans) in round two.
Craig Robertson (Abbotsford) visited Alan Stewart Jr (Stewarton) in the opening round and recorded a single hole victory to set up a visit to face either Blair henderson (Ayr Carrick) or George Johnston (Kilbirnie) in round two.
Also through to round two are Robbie MacInnes (Rowallan Castle), who beat his visitor Stuart Campbell (Ayr Seafield) by 2&1 in their first round encounter, and Darren Mallinson (Irvine) who received a walkover from Andy Brown (West Kilbride). MacInnes will be at home to either John Haggarty (Loudoun) or Steven Stamper (Girvan) in round two, whilst Mallinson will be at home to Iain S. MacDonald (Largs) or Ian A. Morrison (Prestwick St Cuthbert).
Andrew Lindsay (Ayr Dalmilling) secured a second round tie at home to David Pratt (Annanhill) after beating his first round visitor Ross Coubrough (Glacier) by 5&4.
Robbie Muir (Kilmarnock Barassie) became the second player to secure a place in round three, with a 4&3 victory over his host Alan Smeeton (The Chase) in their second round tie. In round three Muir will travel to play either Derek Watt (Drongan) or Paul Mangan (Skelmorlie)
There are three outstanding results from the first round, with these four ties due to be completed by 14th April.
