SCOTTISH AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP - 19 Ayrshire players bid for national title at Blairgowrie

There are nineteen Ayrshire players in the starting line up for the 2018 Scottish Amateur Championship, which takes place at Blairgowrie Golf Club from Tuesday 31st July.

The Ayrshire challenge is led by current Scotland Internationalists Stuart Easton from Irvine and Euan Walker from Kilmarnock Barassie as well as Scotland Boys Internationalist and Ayrshire Boys Champion Jack Broun (Ayr Belleisle) and his clubmate and Ayrshire Strokeplay Champion Jim Johnston.

Ayr Belleisle provide five of the Ayrshire contingent, with three from West Kilbride, Royal Troon and Kilmarnock Barassie, with the remaining Ayrshire players coming from Irvine, Troon Welbeck, Western Gailes, Prestwick St Nicholas and Whiting Bay.

The three strong group of players from Royal Troon include the Ayrshire Matchplay Champion Michael Smyth.

Two qualifying rounds of strokeplay take place on 31st July and 1st August with the leading players progressing to the matchplay stages.
