Henry Thomson (Irvine) was the highest placed Ayrshire
player in the Scottish Senior Men’s Open Championship which took place at Irvine
Golf Club from 20th to 22nd June.
Thomson, who led the Ayrshire challenge from round 1,
finished in joint 20th place on 228 (+12), following rounds of 73,78
& 77.
The championship was won by Ronnie Clark (Erskine) who took
the title in a three way play off after the leaders tied on 221.
The other Ayrshire scores for the players who made the cut
for the final round were:-
231 (+15) –
Alex Gourlay (Irvine) – 78/77/76
233 (+17) –
John McTear (Royal Troon) – 79/76/78
235 (+19) –
Alistair Belford (Prestwick St Nicholas) – 79/74/82
