AYRSHIRE HANDICAP LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP - Chase for the semi final places hots up

The chase for the four semi final spots in the 2018 Ayrshire handicap League Championship is hotting up following recent results in all four qualifying sections.


Royal Troon and Braehead are locked together at the top of SECTION A, after the Troon side lost narrowly by 3.5-2.5 in their recent trip to Ayr Dalmilling.

Kilmarnock (Barassie) kept their qualification hopes alive with a 4-2 win at home to Loudoun.

Beith lead SECTION B after a crushing 5.5-0.5 home win over nearest rivals Troon Welbeck in their latest fixture, whilst Auchenharvie kept in touch with the leaders with a 4-2 win at Prestwick St Cuthbert recently.

In SECTION C, Ballochmyle moved into top spot following a 3.5-2.5 home win over closest challengers Kilbirnie Place in their recent meeting.

In SECTION D, A 4-5-1.5 win at Crosshouse moved Rowallan Castle into first place ahead of Ayr Seafield, who kept their challenge on course with a 3.5-2.5 away win against Tam O Shanter.

Tam O Shanter secured their first points of the campaign with a 4-2 win away to Crosshouse whilst Redburn moved into third place ahead of Prestwick St Nicholas following a 4.5-1.5 away win over the St Nicholas team recently.
