INTERNATIONAL GOLF - Top 20 finish for Walker in South America

Walker finishes joint 18th, Fyfe 23rd in South American championship

Euan Walker

Scotland's Euan Walker, from Kilmarnock Barassie, and Calum Fyfe finished joint 18th and 23rd respectively in a quality field of 70 players in the South American men's amateur championship at Martindale Country Club, Buenos Aires in Argentina.


Walker had scores of 71, 72, 73 and 69 for a three-under-par total of 285.

Fyfe's rounds were 67, 78, 70 and 72 for one-under 287.


The highest placed British and Irish competitor was Ireland's Alex Glesson who tied for fifth place on 281 with very steady scores of 70, 70, 7 and 71.


Winner, by four strokes with a 13-under-par total of 275 was Canada's Chris Crisologo who scored 72, 64, 66 and 73.


Argentina's Alejandro Tosti was runner-up on 279.
