SCOTTISH CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP - Ballochmyle finish third in rain shortened event at Eastwood

Ballochmyle Golf Club finished in third place in the Scottish Club Championship at Eastwood GC on Sunday 24th September 2017, after the championship was reduced from 36 holes to just nine holes due to the deterioration in course conditions following heavy rain which fell overnight and continued during the competition.

Bronze medalists at Eastwood
Callum McKirdy, James McMurdo & William Fleming
of Ballochmyle GC

Due to the weather it was decided that all three scores taken over nine holes would determine the team score.

Representing the Ayrshire Club Champions, who took the national title in 2011, Callum McKirdy (38), William Fleming (38) and James McMurdo (37) combined for a total of 113 for the Ayrshire team, which left them three shots adrift of the winning score of 110, posted by the Lothians representatives from Duddingston GC and the Perth & Kinross representatives from Kinross GC, with Duddingston taking the title on the countback.

The best individual score of the day was posted by Mark Halliday (Royal Aberdeen) with 34 for nine holes.
