SCOTTISH AREA TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP - Ayrshire lose to Lanarkshire in quarter finals at Newmachar

Ayrshire lost out to defending champions Lanarkshire in the quarter finals of the 2017 Scottish Men's Area team Championship, at Newmachar Golf Club on the morning of Saturday 9th September.

The Ayrshire team looked to have the upper hand and by the middle of the round in the five ties they led the title holders 3.5 - 1.5.

Lanarkshire however fought back in the inward half of the ties, running out victors by 3.5 - 1.5 by the end of the match.

Keith Hamilton (Ayr Belleisle) & Steven Wallace (Prestwick St Cuthbert) lost to Graham Rankin (Drumpellier) & Gordon Yates (Colville Park) by 2&1

Craig Hamilton (Ballochmyle) lost to Ed Wood (Crow Wood) by 2&1

Jack Broun (Ayr Belleisle) beat Lewis Irvine (Kirkhill) by 2&1

Jim Johnston (Ayr Belleisle) halved with Steven Rennie (Drumpellier)

John Shanks (irvine) lost to Dominic Dougan (Drumpellier) by 1 hole

AYRSHIRE 1.5   LANARKSHIRE   3.5

In the semi final Lanarkshire lost out to North East by 4.5 - 0.5.

North east will play leading qualifiers Lothians in the final on Sunday 10th September.
