DOC THOM AYRSHIRE ORDER OF MERIT - Scott Brown leads with two events to be included and one left to play

With the results of the recent Ballochmyle Rosebowl competition and the Viking Krus at largs still to be added, Scott Brown (Prestwick St Cuthbert) has taken over at the top of the Ayrshire Order Of Merit for the Doc Thom Salver.

Joint second in the Stevenson Trophy at Girvan and joint first in the Mainholm Cup at Ayr dalmilling took Brown narrowly ahead of Michael Smyth (Royal Troon) at the top of the table.

Keith Hamilton (Ayr Belleisle) remains in third place at Present.

In recent competitons, Jim Johnstone (Ayr Belleisle) shared second place with Scott Brown at the Stevenson Trophy at Girvanwith a score of 66, with Steven Stamper (Turnberry) taking maximum points after returning a scratch 65.

Home club member Andrew Irvine took maximum points in the Troon St Meddans Open with a scratch 71, with Stephen McBlain (Troon Portland) takiing second place with a 73.

The mainholm Cup at Ayr dalmilling, played on Sunday 20th August, was a counting competition for the first time this year and top points were shared by Prestwick St Cuthbert players Greg Telfer and Scott Brown, who both carded scratch scores of 67.

Once the results of the recent Ballochmyle Rosebowl and Viking Krus competitions are confirmed, there remains just one counting event to play which is the Arrol Cup at Prestwick St Nicholas, which takes place on Saturday 16th September.
