CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS - Gimson defeats Fraser in epic battle to claim semi final spot

Graeme Gimson (Prestwick St Cuthbert) became the second player to claim a place in the semi finals of the 2017 Ayrshire Champion Of Champions Trophy competition when he beat Iain Fraser (Troon Portland) in an epic encounter on Thursday evening, 13th July.

With the match at Prestwick St. Cuthbert finishing all square after eighteen, in foul weather, the players progressed to extra holes and no quarter was given as they halved the first extra hole in birdie threes and the second extra hole in par fours.

At the third extra hole, the 21st of the match, both players found the par five green in three and Gimson holed from twelve feed for a birdie four whilst Fraser saw his ten foot birdie putt slip agonisingly past the hole to give Gimson the hole and a place in the last four.

In the semi final, to be played at Royal Troon on Friday 4th August, Graeme Gimson will face either Steven Stamper (Turnberry) or Gordon Munro (Caprington).
