WOMAN'S & GIRL'S HOME INTERNATIONALS - Mixed fortunes on day one at Conwyn

The Scotland woman’s team lost their opening match in the 2016 Home Internationals on Wednesday 3^rd August at Conwyn, Wales, going down by 6.5 – 2.5 to the host nation.

Ayrshire’s Connie Jaffrey (Troon Ladies), paired with Clara Young, lost her foursomes tie in the morning by 3 & 2 and was defeated 5 & 3 in her afternoon singles match.

In the other match on day one, England and Ireland fought out a 4.5 – 4.5 draw.

On Thursday, Scotland face England and Wales play Ireland.

The two Ayrshire players in the Scotland Girls team contributed three points from three as Scotland beat Wales 7 – 2 on the opening day of the Girls’ Home Internationals also played at Conwyn, Wales, on Wednesday 3^rd August.

Hazel McGarvie (Troon Ladies) teamed up with Jillian Farrell of Cardross to record a 7 & 5 victory as Scotland took the morning foursomes 2 – 1.

Louise Duncan (West Kilbride) sat out the foursomes in the morning but in the afternoon singles had a two hole victory. Scotland won five of the six singles ties, Hazel McGarvie adding another point with a 3 & 2 win in the anchor singles tie in the afternoon.
