BOYD QUAICH MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT - Stuart Easton runner up at St. Andrews

Stuart Easton
Stuart Easton (Irvine) finished runner up to fellow Scot George Burns in the prestigious Boyd Quaich Memorial Tournament in St Andrews on Thursday 7th July, with Burns producing a birdie finish on The Old Course in the final round to take the trophy by a single shot from Easton.

The annual championship featured students from across the globe.

Easton, representing  Western Kentucky University in the USA, opened on Tuesday with a three over par 74 on the New Course and a four under par 68 in the second round over the old course kept him in contention at the halfway stage.

The third round, played on Wednesday 6th July over the New Course, saw a five shot improvement on his opening round by Easton, who carded a two under par 69 for a 211 total with one round remaining.

A closing three under par 69 over the Old Course, to give him a final total of six under par 280, was three shots better than Burns' final round, but fell just one shot short of what ultimately was required to match Burns' winning four round total of 279, seven under par.
