Irvine Golf Club’s hopes of retaining the
Ayrshire Scratch league Division 1 championship was dealt a blow recently when
Prestwick St Cuthbert beat the defending champions 4 – 2 at Irvine, which moved
the Prestwick club into joint first place in the title chase.
Kilmarnock (Barassie)’s team also suffered
a setback when they went down by 5.5 – 0.5 away to Balochmyle.
