AYRSHIRE JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE - Final wins for Irvine and Ballochmyle

The first two Ayrshire Junior Golf League finals of the season were held at Ballochmyle on Sunday 6^th September, with Irvine and Ballochmyle taking the honours in the Wallace Thornton and Under 16 Knockout competitions respectively.

Defending champions Irvine faced Kilmarnock (Barassie) in the Wallace Thornton Trophy final and despite Thomas Headly losing heavily to Lewis Caddell in the opening tie, Irvine stormed back with wins from Jack Thomas & Ross McDonald to lead  2 – 1 with one tie remaining. 

In the final tie, Scott Murray and Euan Milligan fought out a half match, giving Irvine the trophy by 2 ½ - 1 ½ overall.

In the Under 16 Knockout Trophy final, host club Ballochmyle, who were beaten finalists 12 months ago, faced Ayr Belleisle.

In the lead match, Declan Chalmers beat Belleisle junior club champion Reuben Lindsay on the final green.

Lewis McMillan put ballochmyle 2 – 0 ahead with a 5 & 4 win over J. Lomas, and Adam Carballo secured the trophy by beading A. Brasit by a single hole in their tie.

Ayr Belleisle had some consolation when Sean Addie beat Christopher Hunter by 2 & 1 in the final tie, making the scoreline 3 – 1 to Ballochmyle.
