AYRSHIRE SCRATCH LEAGUES - Chase for the titles hot up as leagues reach the halfway stage

As the four Ayrshire Scratch leagues progress towards the halfway stage of the season, the destination of all four League Championships are far from clear.

In DIVISION 1, four of the six teams are tied on eight points, a recent 5.5 – 0.5 home win for Prestwick St Cuthbert over Kilmarnock (Barassie) moving the Prestwick club up to second place, just behind the defending champions Irvine.

In  DIVISION 2, Troon Welbeck are just in front of Ayr Belleisle, who have a game in hand, though Turnberry appear likely to be strong challengers for the title, with only three games played so far.
In recent home matches, Troon Welbeck had a 4 – 2 win over West Kilbride and a 3 – 3 draw with Turnberry but suffered disappointment with a 0.5 – 5.5 defeat by Ayr Belleisle, who also won the corresponding fixture at Ayr by 4.5 – 1.5 but were narrowly beaten 3.5 – 2.5 at home to Turnberry.
