ASTOR TROPHY - Connie Jaffrey helps GB & I to runners up place.

Troon Ladies' member Connie Jaffrey helped defending champions Great Britain & Ireland to runners up spot in the Astor Trophy at Grange Golf Club, Adelaide, Australia last week.

With three teams tied on two points after the round robin tournament, GB & I edged out New Zealand and South Africa by virtuie of game points to take second place.

On the opening day GB & I lost out by 4-3 to New Zealand, and despite bouncing back with wins by 6 - 1 against South Africa and 5 - 2 against canada, a final day defeat by 5.5 - 1.5 inflicted by Australia saw GB & I relinquish their crown.

Connie Jaffrey contributed two of a possible four points to the GB & I cause.

FINAL RESULTS
4 pts - Australia (19-9)
2 pts - Great Britain & Ireland (15.5-12.5)
2 pts - New Zealand (15-13)
2 pts - South Africa (12-16)
0 pts - Canada (8.5-19.5)

Along with team mate Chloe Williams (Wrexham), Conie remained in Australia to compete in the Australian Women's Amateur Championship at The Australian and Lakes Golf Clubs this week, where she came through the 36 strokeplay qualifying rounds but lost out in the first round of matchplay.

The next Astor Trophy, in 2019, will be hosted by Canada.
