SCOTTISH GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP - Holder Jaffrey ousted in quarter finals
Connie Jaffrey's defence of her Scottish Girls (Close) Championship title ended on Thursday 17 July at Dumfries & County when she was defeated in the quarter finals by Mirren Fraser (Powfoot).
The Troon Ladies club member never recovered from a poor star which saw her lose two of the opening three holes to pars.
Birdies at the seventh and eighth holes brought Jaffrey back to all square but she had a bogey four at the ninth to allow Fraser to0 take a one hole lead into the inward half of the match. The match was squared again at the eleventh when Jaffrey won the hole with a par four and the players remained all square through fifteen before Fraser restored a decisive lead with a par three being sufficient to win the sixteenth as Jaffrey could only manage a four.
Par fours on the closing two holes were enough for Fraser to secure a one hole victory and claim her place in the semi finals.
