SCOTTISH AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP - 19 Ayrshire players bid for glory at Downfield

Ayrshire has 19 players in the field of 256 when the Scottish Amateur Championship begins on Monday 28th July at Downfield GC in Dundee.

First off  in the championship at 06.45 on the Monday is the tie involving Ayrshire's Malcolm Pennycott (Whiting Bay) who is up against Jamie Pryde (Deeside).




 
Paul Moultrie
J Johnston (Ayr Belleisle) plays at 07.57 against Angus Carrick (Douglas Park), whilst Kenny Macaskill (Turnberry Staff) plays Fraser Milne (Fraserburgh) at 09.45.

Former Ayrshire Champion Of Champions trophy winner Paul Moultrie (Royal Troon) tees off at 10.17 against Jackson Bell (Mortonhall), closely followed by Scotland internationalist Jack McDonald (Kilmarnock Barassie) at 11.09, against Sam Macneil (Aboyne).





Boys internationalist Stuart Easton (Irvine) is the final Ayrshire player involved in action on the Monday, playing at 15.09 against Ben Ferguson (The Vines)

The remaining thirteen Ayrshire players begin their title bid on Tuesday 29th July.


David McLellan
First off is David McLellan (Largs) who plays at 07.33 against Campbell Donaldson (Downfield).

Ross McEwan (Troon Welbeck) is off in the very next match, at 07.41, against Allan Watson (Braehead - Alloa) whilst Euan Walker (Kilmarnock Barassie) is off three games later, at 08.05, against Kieran Mackay (Inverness).

Former Ayrshire Boys Champion Louis Murray (Troon Welbeck) plays at 09.13 against Andrew Burgess (Nairn) whilst two games later at 09.29, Michael Smyth (Royal Troon), who has had some notable results in the competition over the years, faces Daniel Hendry (Emirates) in his opening tie.

Mark Robertson (Western Gailes) plays at 09.53 on the Tuesday against A Fyfe (Carnoustie), James Bunch (Prestwick) faces Allan Mckie (Glencruitten) at 10.41, former Scottish Boys Champion David Wilson (Troon Welbeck) tees off at 11.01 against Ralph Wardlaw (Carnoustie Caledonia), whilst Greg Telfer (Prestwick St Cuthbert) plays in the following game at 11.09 against Jake Hogg (Dukes, St Andrews).




The match at 11.41 is the only all Ayrshire tie in round one and provides a local rivalry with Sandy Buchanan (Prestwick St Nicholas) facing Craig Telfer (Prestwick St Cuthbert).

Scott Brown (Turnberry) is off at 12.05 on the Tuesday, playing against Kevin Daglish (Portlethen) whilst the last Ayrshire player to tee off in the first round will be Charlie Macneal (Prestwick), who plays off at 12.29 against Alastair Thurlow (Murrayfield).
