AYRSHIRE GOLF ASSOCIATION ANNUAL DINNER - Tickets still available for Irvine event

Tickets are still available for the Ayrshire Golf Association Annual Dinner & Presentation Of Prizes, which will be held on Friday 14th March at Irvine Golf Club, Bogside, Irvine.

Guest speaker for the evening will be Niven Rennie, a Superintendent with the Police Service Of Scotland, who is an accomplished after dinner speaker.

Tickets are priced at £17.50 and are available from the Association Secretary.

WEST OF SCOTLAND BOYS CHAMPIONSHIP - Ayrshire host 2014 event at Kilbrinie Place

The 2014 West Of Scotland Boys Strokeplay and Matchplay Championships will be hosted this year by Ayrshire, and will be held at Kilbirnie Place Golf Club from Monday 7th to Wednesday 9th July.


The competitions will be counting events for the 2014 Ayrshire Junior Order OF Merit.

Entry forms should be available through club secretaries in the near future and can also be downloaded via the appropriate link on the left of this page under the 'Juniors Info' heading.

This long-established and prestigious private members’ club is seeking a highly motivated individual with proven management experience and commercial acumen to develop and enhance the Club facilities for Members, Visitors and Championship event competitors.


The Club continues to host major Championships with the Open being held in 2016, additionally other prestigious events involving lady and gentlemen competitors are hosted by the Club.
The Club now invites applications for the position of Secretary/Manager.
The role will include responsibility for:
  • Overseeing the management & operation of the Club, reporting to the Captain.
  • Developing, with the Captain, long-term strategic plans for the Club.
  • Motivating and leading direct reports to achieve the Club objectives.
  • Oversee, with the assistance of the Club’s finance team, preparation and development of budgets and financial plans.
  • Ensuring the Club’s service offerings, facilities are presented to the highest defined standards for members and visitors at all times.
  • Representing the Club effectively in its dealings with third parties.
  • Health and safety and other legal and regulatory matters.
  • Managing media and other external communications
  • Providing support for the Club’s marketing strategy
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
  • Strong track record of providing service excellence to members and visitors
  • Proven management and administrative capabilities.
  • Strong leadership, motivation, diplomacy and communication skills.
  • An appreciation of golf and its traditions within a private members’ club.
  • Business acumen and financial literacy.

AYRSHIRE WINTER GOLF ASSOCIATION - Gray and Wallace take the honours at Troon

At a cold and windy Royal Troon (Portland Course) on Tuesday 11 February 2014, Stephen Gray (Hayston) showed a clean pair of heels to the field with a bogey free 66 winning by four shots from Craig Ronald's (Carluke) 70.

This win gives Stephen a seven shot lead with 41 points in the order of merit over 2nd placed Graham Fox on 34 with one remaining fixture at Old Prestwick to come on the 12th of March.

"Beware the injured soldier comes to mind" when talking about The Kernel Rosebowl amateur prize winner.  Home player Ian Wallace who is currently awaiting a new hip had the winning score with a net 66 (6) .
