SCOTTISH JUNIIOR CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS - Greg telfer wins national title

Greg Telfer (Prestwick St Cuthbert) is the 2012 Scottish Boys Junior Champion Of Champions after winning the national event at The Dukes course in St Andrews on Saturday 20th October.

Greg Telfer (Prestwick St Cuthbert) and Clara Young (North Berwick) won the respective boys' and girls' individutal titles at the season-ending Scottish junior champion of champions' golf tournament over The Duke's Course, St Andrews (on Saturday).

Young won the girls' championship with an excellent round of three-under-par 68.

The East Lothian player was five-under through her opening six holes after holing her second shot with a 9-iron at the par-4 second hole before also making an eagle on the par-5 sixth.


But it was not all plain sailing for Clara.

She came under pressure in the closing stages from Hannah Scott (Broomieknlwe) who had four birdies in compiling a 69.

Scottish girls' match-play champion Lauren Whyte (St Regulus) was third with a 73, a shot ahead of Rachel Walker (Dumfries and County).

Last year's winner Connie Jaffrey (Troon Ladies) shared sixth spot on 76.
 
Greg Telfer headed a field of 30 for the boys' junior championship with a four-under-par 67, which included six birdies. He won by a stroke from Paul Reilly (Kilmacolm). Alan Waugh (Cowglen) and Ben Murray (Portlethen) finished joint third on 69.
