AREA BOYS TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP - Wooden Spoon for Ayrshire at Cowglen

Ayrshire had their worst ever finish in the Area Boys Team Championship, when the 2012 competition was played at Cowglen on Sunday 10th June.
Despite having high hopes, with two scottish internationalists in the team, the Ayrshire boys had no way back from the morning foursomes, lying 15  shots off the pace set by the eventual winners, Lothians.
Throwing caution to the wind in the afternoon, in an effort to climb up the table, things went from bad to wors on a day when nothing seemed to go right for the Ayrshire team, resulting in the side finishing last of the 16 areas.
Despite the disappointment of this years event, after being narrowly pipped for the title 12 months ago, Ayrshire will have the additional incentive in 2013 of playing for the title on home soil, when the championship makes a return to Prestwick St Cuthbert Golf Club next year.
