SCOTTISH CAPTAINS & SECRETARIES CHAMPIONSHIP - Three Ayrshire teams reach national final

Ayrshire will have three clubs represented in the 2011 Belhaven Best Captains & Secretaries Championship Grand Final which takes place at Pollock Golf Club in Glasgow on Wednesday 21st September.

Played on a better ball handicap basis, with 3/4 handicap allowance, two of the qualifiers claimed their place with a top eight finish in the regional qualifying event held at Williamwood on Tuesday 16th August, whilst the otherqualified through the regional qualifying event played at Hamilton on Thursday 14th July.

At Williamwood, the representatives from Strathaven and Pollock finished in top spot with three under par whilst Scott Martin & David Raeside (Crosshouse) qualified in third place on two under par.

The other Ayrshire qualifier at Williamwood were Ian Griffin & Tom McFarlane (Irvine Ravenspark) who were tied seventh on one over par, but took the seventh qualifying place ahead of Vale Of Leven, whilst the duo from Crieff were edged out of the qualifying places.

+ 4 - Willie Creevy & Michael O'Brien (Saxone)
+ 5 - Andrew McLuckie & James Chalmers (Glacier)
+ 5 - Graham Kawalski & John McGinn (New Cumnock)
+ 6 - John Boyle & George Campbell (Ayr Dalmilling)
+ 6 - Douglas Phillips & Colin Manson (Ayr Carrick)
+ 7 - Gordon Neill & John Brodie (Chase)
+ 16 - Ray Murton & Brian Milligan (Ayr Seafield)
nr - Barry Stewart & Gordon Bennett (Stewarton)

The other Ayrshire representatives in the Grand Final will be Kevin McKeown & Tom Foster (Maybole) who grabbed the eighth and final qualifying place at the regional event at Hamilton in July on four under par, the same score as Helensburgh in seventh place and edging out the teams from Sanquhar and Playsport on the countback. Bothwell Castle and Haggs castle headed the qualifiers on seven under par.
