SCOTTISH GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP - McGarva wins Ansley Reid Salver

Ayrshire players competed with some distinction in the 2011 Scottish Girls Championships, held at Glenisla Golf Club last week.

Pride of place went to Katie McGarva (Troon Ladies) who won the second flight matchplay event for the Ansley Reid Salver, beating Emily Dalgetty (Glencorse) by 2 & 1 in the final.

Mhari McKay (West Kilbride) also qualified for the Ansley Reid matchplay stages but lost out to top qualifier Alexandra Tait (St Regulus) by 5 & 4 in the first round.

In the Championship competition Connie Jaffrey (Troon Ladies) qualified for the matchplay stages as fourth qualifier and won through to the quarter final stage before being defeated by Rachael Walker (Dumfries & County) by 3 & 2.

Eilidh Briggs (Kilmacolm) defeated Gemma Dryburgh (Beaconsfield) in the final to take the 2011 Scottish Girls title.
