SCOTTISH OPEN STROKEPLAY CHAMPIONSHIP - Five Ayrshire players bid for national title at Blairgowrie

There are five Ayrshire players in the field for the 2011 Scottish Open Strokeplay Championship which will be held over the Lansdowne course at Blairgowrie from 27th to 29th May.


Highest handicap in the field of 144 players is +1.3.


The Ayrshire challenge will be led by Scottish Amateur Champion Michael Stewart (Troon Welbeck) who is due to return to competitive golf at the championship after an injury enforced lay off. 


Stewart is joined in the filed by clubmate and reigning Ayrshire Boys Champion Charlie Macneal who has recently returned from his first year at university in America.


Royal Troon provide two of the other Ayrshire hopefuls in new Ayrshire matchplay Champion Michael Smyth and former Ayrshire Champion Of Champions Trophy winner Paul Moultrie.


The remaining Ayrshire player in the field is former Ayrshire Matchplay Champion Scott Brown from Turnberry.


Tee times on day 1 involving Ayrshire players are :-


0750 - Michael Stewart (Troon Welbeck)
1010 - Paul Moultrie (Royal Troon)
1200 - Charlie Macneal (Troon Welbeck)
1340 - Michael Smyth (Royal Troon)
1410 - Scott Brown (Turnberry)
