Golf fans are being encouraged to tune into a new golf magazine programme which hits the airwaves this Saturday (28 May) on BBC Radio Scotland for the next six weeks.Presented by Sportscene’s Rob MacLean and Dalmahoy Director of Golf Alan Tait, an on course commentator for the channel’s live golf coverage at The Open and Barclays Scottish Open, The Golf Show will come live from St Andrews every Saturday between 4pm and 5pm.
The show will have a strong Scottish flavour but will also look at the global game, and is aimed to appeal to ‘golf nuts’ as well as those with a passing interest in the game who might just be converted.
The Golf Show will bring listeners interviews with Scotland’s leading golfers such as Martin Laird, Paul Lawrie, Stephen Gallacher and Catriona Matthew, while former Ryder Cup captains Colin Montgomerie, Sam Torrance and Bernard Gallacher will also be featured.
You can also expect to hear from some of the world’s best golfers including Lee Westwood, Luke Donald and Rory McIroy. Closer to home, the programme will have a regular round-up of the latest Scottish golf news from the amateur and professional scene.
The spotlight will turn on a golf club of the week and the hosts will also talk to some of the game’s true characters. The programme will preview the upcoming Barclays Scottish Open at the fantastic new Castle Stuart course near Inverness and the Walker Cup at Royal Aberdeen, as well as a look further ahead to the 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles.
