AYRSHIRE SUMMER LEAGUE - Champions start well in title defence

Defending champions Kilmarnock Barassie (Pictured) have made a good start to their defence of the Ayrshire Summer (Scratch) League title as the matches in the five leagues are now under way.

In LEAGUE 1, Kilmarnock (Barassie) have opened their defence with two wins, by 4 - 2 at home to Irvine Ravenspark and by 3.5 - 2.5 away to Irvine (Bogside).

Troon Welbeck opened with a 3.5 - 2.5 home win over Irvine whilst the Irvine club put their first points on the board with a 5 - 1 win away from home against local rivals Irvine Ravenspark.

In LEAGUE 2, Ballochmyle have started well with a 6 - 0 home win over New Cumnock and a narrow 3.5 - 2.5 win, again at home, over Kilbirnie Place.

Kilbirnbie Place were the winners of the only other match completed so far, with a 5.5 - 0.5 home win over Ardeer.

The only result notified in LEAGUE 3 so far was a 3 - 3 draw between Troon St Meddans and their visitors Prestwick St Cuthbert.

No match results have been notified so far in LEAGUE 4.

In LEAGUE 5, Rowallan Castle opened their campaign with a 4 - 2 away win at Brunston Castle whilst Girvan won their opening home match against Crosshouse by 5 - 1
