AYRSHIRE SUMMER LEAGUE - Malletsheugh withdraw from 2010 competition

With most clubs well advanced in arranging their qualifying matches in the 2010 Ayrshire Summer (Scratch) League competition, Malletsheugh have advised that they will be unable to take part and have withdrawn from the event.
With Malletsheugh drawn in League 4, a three team section alongside West Kilbride and Kilbirnie Place, this left the six qualifying sections comprising 4 - 4 - 4 - 2 - 3 & 3 teams.
Two options were considered, these being to leave the sections as drawn which would effectively have West Kilbride and Kilbirnie playing off for a quarter final spot or to move one of the four teams in League 3 into league 4 to give a six section set up of 4 - 4 -3 - 3 - 3 & 3 teams.
Bearing in mind the advanced stage that some teams were at in their match arrangements, the views of all clubs potentially involved, beingn the clubs in both Leagues 3 and 4, were sought and it has been decided to continue with the leagues as originally drawn. This decision was predominently based on the preferred options expressed by the clubs involved, the majority of whom expressed a preference to continue as originally drawn.
The format for the event this year will therefore now be :-
LEAGUE 1 - Caprington, Maybole, Irvine & Irvine Ravenspark.
LEAGUE 2 - Loudoun, Ballochmyle, Troon Welbeck & Prestwick St. Cuthbert
Winners of leagues 1 & 2 to play off in the semi final
LEAGUE 3 - Troon St. Meddans, Ayr Belleisle, Turnberry & New Cumnock
LEAGUE 4 - West Kilbride & Kilbirnie Place
Winners of Leagues 3 & 4 to play off in a quarter final
LEAGUE 5 - Beith, Tam O Shanter & Largs
LEAGUE 6 - Ardeer, Annanhill & Kilmarnock Barassie
Winners of Leagues 5 & 6 to play off in a quarter final
Winners of the 3/4 and 5/6 quarter finals to play off in a semi final match
