SCOTTISH GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP - Ayrshire hopes end in second round of matchplay

Both the Ayrshire qualifiers for the matchplay stages of the 2009 Scottish Girls Championship, being played at Lanark this week, bowed out of the championship on Wednesday.

Mhairi McKay (West Kilbride) lost in the first round by 4 & 3 to Sammy Vass (Tain).

Connie Jaffrey (West Kilbride) - pictured right - bowed out in round 2 when she was beaten 9 & 7 by 14 year old Lesley Atkins (Minto), the current Borders' Womens Champion.
Jaffrey however did not exit before providing one of the surprise results of the championship when she beat International team member and Angus ladies Champion Ailsa Summers (Carnousite Ladies) by 4 & 3 in round 1.
