AYRSHIRE CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS - Moore and Moultrie for final

The final of the 2008 Ayrshire Champion Of Champions competition, at 5.00 p.m. on Friday 8th August at Royal Troon will be between Brian Moore (Largs) and Paul Moultrie (Troon Portland).

In the semi finals, played over Royal Troon on Friday 1st August, 2006 trophy winner Brian Moore beat Alex Gourlay (Irvine) 3 & 2 whilst Paul Moultrie had a one hole win over George Robertson (Irvine Ravenspark).

The Moultrie - Robertson semi final was particularly close throughout. Robertson birdied the 16th to square the match but Moultrie immediately restored his lead with a birdie 2 at the 17th.

Whe Moultrie narrowly missed with his birdie putt at the 18th, Robertson had a 20 foot putt to take the match into extra holes. Despite hitting a good putt, Robertson's effort hung agonisingly on the lip of the hole, giving Moultrie a one hole win.
