WEST OF SCOTLAND BOYS CHAMPIONSHIP - four local players on prizelist

The West Off Scotland Boys Championship for 2008 was hosted by The Ayrshire Golf Association recently, and played over the Ardeer course.

The Strokeplay rounds, on Tuesday 24th June attrached a capacity field with competitors encountering testing conditions which were reflected in the CSS for the two rounds which increased on both occasions by 1 stroke, to 72.

Winner of the Championship was James Hendrick (Pollock) with a total of 144 (75-69) which left him four shots clear of his nearest rival, Brian Robertson (Renfrew) on 148 (71 - 77)

The best placed Ayrshire player was Scott Brown (Turnberry) in third place, with 149 (72 - 77).

In the handicap event, 9 handicapper Cieran Byrne (New Cumnock) had the best nett aggregate of the day with 66 - 66 for 132.

Host club players Michael Howie (141) and Joseph Howie (143) also featured in the prize list.
