AYRSHIRE MATCHPLAY CHAMPIONSHIP - Wallace starts well in bid for double

Newly crowned Ayrshire Strokeplay Champion Steven Wallace (Prestwick St. Cuthbert) got off to a flying start on Monday 5th May, at Western Gailes, as he bids to win the County strokeplay and matchplay titles in the one year.

Wallace opened his challenge with a 5 & 4 victory over Hugh Burns (Troon Welbeck).

Also through to the quarter finals is the defending champion Steven Murray (Troon Welbeck) who had a 2 & 1 win over Gareth Lamb (Irvine) on Monday.

Craig Hamilton (Ballochmyle) beat Ian Walker (Turnberry) by 2 & 1
David Currie (Kilmarnock Barassie) lost to Alex Walker (Troon St. Meddans) by 2 holes
Steven Murray (Troon Welbeck) beat Gareth lamb (Irvine) by 2 & 1
Paul Moultrie (Troon Portland) beat Gary Tierney (Prestwick St. Nicholas) by 4 & 3
Brian Moore (Largs) beat Euan Brown (Kilmarnock Barassie) by 5 & 4
John Cairney (Irvine Ravenspark) beat Barry Crawford (West KIlbride) by 2 & 1
Michael Smyth (Royal Troon) lost to Colin Robinson (Largs) at the 19th.

The Quarter Final draw, with matches being played on Tuesday evening, is :-
