AYRSHIRE JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE - Ardeer into Under 16 final, despite illness setback

Ardeer have booked their place in the final of the 2007 Under 16 Knockout competition with a countback win over New Cumnock in the semi final.

In the semi final match played this week, Ardeer won two of the ties comfortably, by 4 & 3 and 8 & 7, whilst New Cumnock took the lead tie by 2 holes.

In the remaining tie, the Ardeer player was leading by one hole playing the fifth when illness prevented him continuing. Under the rules of the competition, the playerwas deemed to have lost the remaining holes to be played until a winnig margin for his oponent was reached, and as a result the tie went to New Cumnock by 7 & 6.

Despite this setback, and a 2 - 2 draw as a result, Ardeer had the better countback score overall, and went through to the final.
