LEVEN GOLD MEDAL - McEwan slips down field as Soutar takes title

Overnight leader Steven McEwan (Caprington) could not maintain the form that saw him break the course record on Saturday, in the final two rounds of the Leven Gold Medal on Sunday 12th August.

McEwan could only manage rounds of 71 and 73, 13 shots worse than the previous day, to finish tied 10th overall, behind the winner, local member Brian Soutar.

Best of the three Ayrshire players who completed the 72 holes was Ross Dixon (Kilmarnock Barassie) who finished joint seventh on 274.

Chris Harkins (Ayr Belleisle), the other Ayrshire qualifier, finished on 280.
