The start of the qualifying round for the 2006 Ayrshire Ladies County Golf Championship at Western Gailes on Monday 10th April was delayed for 45 minutes due to heavy overnight frost rendering the course unplayable at the scheduled start time.
Best score of the day was returned by Robina Gilbertson (Belleisle Ladies), her 77 edging out the defending champion Lesley Hendry (Largs Routenburn) and former champion Catherine Malcolm (Prestwick St. Nicholas) by one shot.
With Gilbertson unavailable for the match play stages, the qualifiers for the match play, which takes place on Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th April, again at Western Gailes are led by the holder Lesley Hendry.
