WEST OF SCOTLAND LEAGUES - Ayrshire youths get off to a winning start

The Ayrshire youth team got off to a winning start in the 2004 West Of Scotland County Leagues at Prestwick St. Cuthbert on Saturday 9th October, with a 6.5 - 3.5 win over Dumbartonshire.

Honours were even over the first 5 matches, with a win for each county and three halved matches, but the latter games proved decisive, with the Ballochmyle duo of Ian Guthrie and Craig Hamilton recording 5&4 and 3&2 wins respectively to set up a good win.

GARRY NEIL (Caprington) halved with J. McEwan (Clydebank & Dist.)
LEE HUGHES (Belleisle) halved with P. Brown (Cardross)
CAMERON GRAY (W. Kilbride) halved with S. Barras (Helensburgh)
IAN GUTHRIE (Ballochmyle) beat P. Boreland (Windyhill) 5 & 4
CRAIG HAMILTON (Ballochmyle) beat D. Wylie (Lenzie) 3 & 2
STUART ROBIN (St. Nicholas) beat K. McKenzie (Balmore) 3 & 2
ALASTAIR LEGGATE (Barassie) lost to A. Nelson (Douglas Pk.) 2 & 1
JAMIE MACKAY (St. Meddans) beat G. Stewart (Lenzie) 3 & 2
