PRESTWICK ST. CUTHBERT SENIORS OPEN - Paton keeps the trophy at home

A capacity field of over 100 senior golfers enjoyed superb weather at this years Prestwick St. Cuthbert Seniors Open for the Jim Malcolm Trophy on Tuesday 7th September.

Top prize of the day went to St. Cuthbert member Drew Paton, who followed up a win in the club medal on Saturday with a superb 6 under par nett score of 65, to take the seniors title by one shot from clubmate John Halfpenny, who led for most of the day with a 66.

Best scratch score of the day went to another club member, John W. Boyd, who posted a 3 over par score of 74, which included a notable inward half of level par 35.

In the 55 to 65 age group, four players tied on 71, with St. Cuthbert's Tom Mair taking the honours by virtue of the best last 6 holes.

The 61 to 67 age group was topped by A. Craig of Ballochmyle with 69, whilst John Halfpenny had the consolation of winning the 68 and over age group, after narrowly missing out on the trophy and first place.

C.S.S. for the competition was 71 (no change).
