AYRSHIRE JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE - Sam Crozier takes 2022 Junior Champion of Champions title

Sam Crozier (West Kilbride) is the 2022 Ayrshire Junior Golf league Champion of Champions Trophy winner after he defeated Harvey Broadfoot (Royal Troon) in the final at Prestwick St Cuthbert GC on Saturday the 1st of October.

In a day where the players had to battle some really testing conditions, with wind and heavy rain showers, both players produced some fine golf during the round, with Sam's excellent short game in particular contributing much towards his ultimate victory.

A bogey, a par, and two birdies over the opening four holes saw Sam taking an early three hole lead which he maintained until the eighth hole where a par five was enough for Harvey to reduce the deficit to two holes by the turn.

The opening four holes of the inward half were shared, Sam winning the tenth and twelfth with Harvey winning the eleventh and thirteenth, before reducing his deficit to a single hole when he won the short fourteenth with a par three.

With the fifteenth being halved in par fours, the players exited the loop and moved to the final three holes with Sam one hole up and a par four at the sixteenth was enough for Sam to win the hole and move to dormie two in the match, before closing out the tie at the seventeenth, a half in par threes giving sam a 2&1 victory and the Champion of Champions title for 2022.

At the conclusion of the match Ayrshire Golf Association President Scott Gilchrist presented the Champion of Champions trophy to the new champion.
