WEST OF SCOTLAND JUNIOR STROKEPLAY CHAMPIONSHIP - Finlay Watt best for Ayrshire at Wishaw

Finlay Watt (West Kilbride) was the best from Ayrshire in the recent West of Scotland Junior Strokeplay Championship, hosted by the Lanarkshire Golf Association at Wishaw GC on Sunday the 7th of July.

A scratch score of 72 left Watt in fourth place, just two strokes adrift of the winner Noa Meikle (Hamilton) on 70, and alongside Jack broadfoot (Royal Troon), in fifth place, also on 72.

The leading boys progressed to the West of Scotland Boys' Matchplay Championship on Monday the 15th and Tuesday the 16th of May.

two of the Ayrshire players were among the eight qualifiers for the matchplay championship, with Finlay Watt playing Riley McCann (Wishaw) in the first round while Gregor Hay faced Thomas Kelly (Stirling) in the opening round.

In two close matches, the Ayrshire players bowed out in the opening round on the morning of Monday the 15th of July, Watt losing by two holes and hay losing by a single hole.
