AYRSHIRE MEN'S CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS - First round concludes this weekend

The first round matches in the 2024 Ayrshire Men's Champion of Champions Trophy competition are due to be completed by Sunday the 28th of April, and several results have been posted this week.

Robbie Stewart (Troon Portland) had a 5&4 home win over Darren Young (Crosshouse) and will be at home to Aidan Long (Ayr Belleisle) in the second round after Long had a walkover against Kevin Campbell (Glacier) in round one.

Brian Gibson (Rowallan Castle) has a trip to either Irvine Ravenspark or Ayr Dalmilling in round two after a 5&4 away win against Andrew McConnell (Portmann) in the opening round.

Holder Craig Hamilton (Ballochmyle) came through his first round tie away to George Paton (Troon Merchants) by 7&5 and will be at home to Jamie Monaghan (Girvan) in the second round following Monaghan's home win over Ryan Morrison (Ayr Seafield) by 2&1 in round one.

Steven Smith (Loudoun) beat Brian McGarrity (Drongan) by 5&4 in round one, and has another home tie in the second round against Stuart Miller (Kilmarnock Barassie) who won by 2&1 on his first round visit to play Scott Martin (Troon Welbeck).

Away from home in the opening round, Andrew Marshall (Prestwick St Nicholas) beat Dennis Taggart (Malletsheugh) by 7&6, and has a home tie in round two, while John R Anderson (Skelmorlie) was 3 up after 5 holes in his first round tie against Michael Smyth (Royal Troon) when he was conceded the tie by his opponent who cited an injury during the match.

Five first round matches remain to be completed this weekend.
